Bravo!

«We did not investigate, for want of time» p. 4
«The Evaluation team had the opportunity to devote only a small amount of time» p. 19
«We were unable to spend very much of our time» p. 19
«The reviewer did not have time» p. 25
«There has been rather little time» p.28
«Unfortunately very little time» p. 32

«the student voice on these bodies is delivered by activists and enthusiasts who are not typical of the bulk of student body which is itself thereby disenfranchised.» p. 4
«this is true of the junior staff too who feel marginalized in decisions of substance although nominally participants.» p. 4
«there was resort to rather conventional means of teaching without anywhere near as much attention to student learning.» p. 8
«staff offering more individual support to students in the form of small tutorial groups and pastoral care.» p. 8-9
«Importantly external constraints cannot be used as an excuse to do nothing.» p. 10
«A group of happy, able, independent, well educated and well motivated students will lead to many benefits, including a reduced workload on staff, better results from research related projects, a high reputation for the Faculty and better statistical indicators (such as grades, failure rates, time to graduation).» p. 11
«We would like to suggest some form of organized induction for new students.» p. 12
«Students can be encouraged to keep a log book in which they can reflect and record what they have learned and achieved as they progress. Once acquired, this habit of keeping a professional diary will be useful to them for ever.» p. 12
«The use of visiting speakers (preferably alumni), research presentations and case studies are particularly effective in maintaining motivation.» p. 13
«Students need regular feedback to enable them to assess their progression and take control of their own learning. Much of this can be provided from marked assessments.» p. 14
«We understand that students have a right, which many exercise, to see their marked scripts. Again, we would encourage them to do so.» p. 14
«We also feel that the absence of any external validation of course level, performance level or curriculum content is a real weakness and one that will increasingly be challenged by students and employers.» p. 17
«the curriculum and the manner of its delivery does not seem as though it has been designed to enable student learning but rather to enable staff teaching.» p. 17
« there may be a role for Department Advisory Committees with external representation.» p. 19. Bem feito!

Foi um prazer.

Atenciosamente,

Virgílio A. P. Machado
